About Meet in Athens
Meet in Athens started life in September 2005 when three people met in an online
discussion forum while looking for other expats in Athens. One of them took the
initiative and set up a fledgling group with the aim of getting people to meet up in
person. Shortly after, they met for a coffee somewhere in the centre of Athens and
with the active participation of those early members, MIA was born.
Of course, there are thousands of expats in Athens and quite a few other groups,
but nothing quite like MIA.
A little time has passed and there is now a steady flow of new members joining the
group every week, a lot of good friendships have developed and we have already
had to say goodbye to friends who have moved on. We are still awaiting the first
MIA wedding, but that surely cannot be far off now! Come on people!
